Following their appointment, new staff will receive a written statement of employment and a staff handbook containing information about the out of school club. It will include:

  • Policies within which they are expected to work
  • Procedures they are expected to follow
  • Other information on routines of the club
  • Appraisal, training, staff development
  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures

All appointment are subject to three months probationary period during which time they will meet with their line manager, play leader and employer (committee member(s) responsible) to discuss whether things are going as expected and any problems should be resolved

Where an employee is not performing satisfactorily should be explained before the end of the probationary period. This will allow time for improvement before the need arises to extend or terminate the period of probation

After the probationary period has been satisfactorily completed a permanent offer of employment will be made. There will be regular opportunities throughout their employment with the out of school club for formal and informal appraisal
